Piano & Violin Lessons Derby
Justin is a passionate, professional and very patient music teacher with over 30 years' playing experience.
He teaches piano, violin and theory to children as young as four and adults of any age and ability.
As a student, Justin studied music professionally at Birmingham Conservatoire (1996-2000) and gained a BMus (Hons) degree from this established Music College.
Justin has almost twenty years experience teaching piano in three very established independent schools. Bromsgrove School, Worcester, Repton Preparatary School (Foremarke Hall), Derbyshire and Nottingham High School. He has vast experience of teaching all levels and abilities across infant, junior and senior school age.
Teaching Method
Justin uses a specialist teaching method, where the focus on playing notes and recognizing notes on the stave is imperative, rather than bringing too much formal focus on theory into the lessons at an early age, which can put the student off wanting to learn.
Lessons are fun and the style of music chosen are all tailored to each individual student, so that they are studying repertoire that they ENJOY, rather than learning set traditional classical music which children can sometimes struggle to relate to and their interest can wane.
Justin is experienced at teaching children with learning difficulties and can still achieve great results with these students.
Students study the ABRSM syllabus when taking grades (1-8). This is the most established and professional music examination body in the world, geared predominantly towards young musicians keen to study music professionally as a future career.
Justin prepares his more serious and talented students for concerts, competitions, auditions, music scholarships and ABRSM grades but enjoyment of lessons and learning is always of paramount importance during this process.
